The PCTGP is a state-funded initiative designed to revitalize Ronan and boost local tourism by leveraging cultural, historical, and natural assets. The goal is to turn Ronan into a destination, not just a pass-through town.

The program is funded by the Montana Department of Commerce through the Pilot Community Tourism Grant Program, which supports rural towns with tourism potential.

Ronan was chosen due to its strong community engagement, existing tourism assets, and shovel-ready projects that align with the program’s revitalization goals.

The Mission West Tourism Grant is funding projects that enhance walkability, infrastructure, public art, and business revitalization, including:

Murals on Main St – Showcasing Indigenous culture & history

Fairgrounds Infrastructure & Restroom Expansion – Supporting large-scale events

Walkability Study & Pathway Development – Safer routes for pedestrians & cyclists

Façade Improvement Grant Program – Helping businesses update storefronts

The murals will highlight Salish and Kootenai tribal history, language, and heritage, promoting cultural awareness and heritage tourism.

Upgrades include modernized restrooms, improved accessibility, and infrastructure updates (sewer, water, and electrical) to support major events like Lights Under the Big Sky and the Chainsaw Rendezvous.

This project will create a master plan for safer pedestrian and biking routes, with a priority on connecting Main Street, schools, the fairgrounds, and local parks.

Business and property owners in downtown Ronan can apply for matching grants up to $10,000 to improve storefronts, signage, and accessibility.
